Gertrude  Caton-Thompson  ( 01.02.1888  -  18.04.1985 )

British archaeologist who studied under William M.F. Petrie at UCL (1921–1926) and worked with him at Abydos and Oxyrhynchus (1921–1922). She specialised in prehistoric Egypt and excavated at Qau in 1923–1925 with William M.F. Petrie and Guy Brunton, where she discovered the predynastic village at Hemmamiya. In parallel, she initiated the first archaeological and geological survey of the Northern Fayum (1924–1928), where she discovered two neolithic cultures.
