Edward Russell  Ayrton  ( 17.12.1882  -  18.05.1914 )

Edward Russel Ayrton was a British Egyptologist and archaeologist. He first excavated at Abydos under Petrie in 1902–1904 and idependently at the Shunet ez-Zebib. He further worked near Ghurab with William L.S. Loat; at Deir el-Bahri with Édouard Naville and Henry R.H. Hall (1904–1905); and in the Valley of the Kings for Theodore M. Davis (1905–1908). E.R. Ayrton worked again at Abydos under É. Naville in 1908–1909, where he excavated the mostly Old Kingdom Cemetery F with W.L.S. Loat. Also with Loat, he directed fieldwork at Mahasna.
