Robert Claude Edouard  Forrer  ( 09.01.1866  -  09.04.1947 )

Robert C.E. Forrer was Swiss archaeologist, collector and antiquarian, who spent most of his adult life in Strasbourg, where he studied, from 1887/1888. He travelled in Egypt in 1894, where he briefly conducted excavation work at Akhmim. In Strasbourg, he was director of the Musée préhistorique et gallo-romain in Strasbourg in 1909–1939. Most of his archaeological activities were based in Alsace. He indicated Akhmim as the provenance of a number of antiquities he sold, although this is by far not always true.
