Ahaiwa

The site of Ahaiwa is located near Naga ed-Deir. It was excavated by George A. Reisner in 1900 (see Reisner, 1936: The Development of the Egyptian Tomb: 377–378; B. Green, 1981: A Preliminary Analysis of Dating and distribution in the Predynastic Cemetery Site of El-Ahaiwah, unpublished manuscript).

According to Bodil Morensen (1991: Change in the Settlement Pattern and Population in the Beginning of the Historical Period, Ägypten und Levante / Egypt and the Levant, Vol. 2: 31), only three tombs from the cemetery were published (A88, A128, A226) out of an estimated 950 graves; there are notes about 285 graves.

Coordinates are approximate and correspond to today's Nag el-Ahaiwa (Sohag governorate).
