Palette – rhomboid PAL-0087

By Hendrickx, Stan

, Cemetery 100, tomb 68.

1900 : George A. Reisner excavation.

Berkeley, Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology, 6-17595.

Date : Naqada IIC–D

The tomb is dated to Naqada III/'Dynasty 0' (ca. 3200–3000 BC) by the Hearst Museum, but the assemblage that we know to have been found in tomb 67 suggests a Naqada IIC–D date. It is also possible for the rhomboid palette to be a heirloom.

Material : Greywacke

Preservation : Complete

Description

The rhomboid palette is rounded at the ends of the shorter axis and has rounded extremities.

Object use

The palette has been lightly used and furthermore some pitting can be observed.
