Lawrence E. Stager  was an American archaeologist (Harvatd University) who specialised in Syro-Palestinian and Biblical archaeology. Beginning in 1985 he oversaw the excavations of the Leon Levy Expedition to Ashkelon. He also worked at Carthage, Idalion, Gezer, and Tell el-Hesi.
