Greville John  Chester  ( 25.10.1830  -  23.05.1892 )

Greville John Chester was a British clergyman who was forced to retire due to ill-health in 1865. A tireless traveler, he then wintered in Egypt for many years, where he collected many antiquities, including some major pieces. He purchased objects for several British museums (British Museum, Ashmolean Museum, Fitzwilliam Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum); these institutions, among others, also greatly benefitted from donations of artefacts.
