Georges  Bénédite  ( 10.08.1857  -  23.03.1926 )

French Egyptologist; George Bénédite studied Egyptology at the École des Hautes Études under Gaston Maspero (1881–1886). He joined the Mission Archéologique in 1887–1888, before being appointed to the staff of the Louvre (1888); his carreer at the museum saw him become Conservateur- Adjoint (1895) and he succeeded Pierret as Conservateur (1907). He became professeur at the Collège de France where he succeeded Gaston Maspero (1899–1914).
