Archaeological site unknown.
Before 1940 : Given by an Egyptian man to Ludwig Keimer.Collection unknown
Material : Nile silt (Painted)
Preservation : Intact
Decoration preservation : Good
Description
This vessel was supposed to have contained a rounded stone that naturally resembled a stone vessel, according to the account given by the man who gave the vessel to Ludwig Keimer; the respective sizes of the two objects tend to corrobore this view.
Decoration
The precise organisation of the decoration is not fully visible in the published documentation. Five large, downturned, cross-hatched triangles are interspersed with "W" chevrons motifs, each consisting of pairs of parallel lines, although it is not certain if there is such motif between each triangles. There also seems to be one small, downturned triangle with uncertain filling, and a possible upturned triangle filled with chevrons.
