Date : Naqada IA–IIB
General range of C-ware production
Material : Nile silt (Painted)
Preservation : Almost complete
Decoration preservation : Partly lost
Preservation information :
A few fragments are missing. The surface of the interior is generally well-preserved desite the numerous break, but it is lost in some areas. The surface of the exterior is generally better preserved. The base is heavily eroded.
Description
The height of the vessel is uneven and its diameter is slightly irregular (16–17 cm). The bottom of the interior is not flat, but is slightly raised. Black traces from the firing process are visible on a few places on the outside of the bowl.
Decoration
Two vertical panels that taper downward and connect to one another at the bottom of the bowl are filled with polka dots. These two compartments divide the rest of the decorative space in two equal parts. The same design is repeated on each side: there is a series of parallel horizontal wavy lines in the upper part, and three groups of parallel vertical wavy lines in the lower part. The decoration extends on the rim.
Object use
The base is heavily eroded, which suggests that the bowl was used for some time.
