Palette – rhomboid PAL-0206

By Hendrickx, Stan

Nubia, Khor Bahan (A-group)

, Cemetery 17, tomb 27, object 2.

1907–1908 : Archaeological Survey of Nubia excavation.

Brussels, Musées royaux d'Art et d'Histoire, E.5256b.

Date : early Naqada II (?)

Reisner (1910: 134) dated tomb 27 at Khor Bahan among the "later graves", but a date of all these tombs in the early Naqada II seems most plausible.

Material : Greywacke

Preservation : Almost complete

Preservation information :

The tips of both extremities are missing.

Description

The rhomboid palette is rounded at the ends of the shorter axis and has pointed extremities.

Object use

The palette has been used, as indicated by shallow hollowing in the central are of both faces. The extremeties are damaged, which may be due to use.
