Description

The ostrich egg may be ancient, although this remains to be determined. At least one blowhole was drilled at one end of the egg.

Decoration

The decoration has been incised on the outer surface of the egg in modern times. It is organised in several registers, and encompasses repeated motifs seemingly copied from Petrie's publications, including representations of fish-shaped palettes, boat cabins, a boat with a bird standing on it, a representation of a female statuette with the arms raised above the head.
