Manchester, University Museum, TN R1121/1936.

Date : Naqada IA–IIB

General range of C-ware production

Material : Nile silt (Painted)

Preservation : Intact

Decoration preservation : Partly lost

Preservation information :

The surface is very eroded, especially on the upper part of the inside.

Decoration

The inside is decorated with three downturned triangles filled with irregular chevrons; two areas between the triangles are filled with dots, the third one with a group of several vertical strokes and seven shorter vertical strokes below. On the outside, series of horizontal and oblique lines fill the spaces between several vertical and oblique lines that are painted from the rim to the base. A crack that happened during the firing of the vessel is masked with a line painted over it, certainly on the outside, and likely also on the inside.
